Happy BIRTHday Dennis!

Dennis and I are proud to announce the birth of our son, Dennis Cleveland Greenway, III. Born Friday, September 11th at 2:44pm weighing 8 pounds 7 ounces and 21 inches long.

Welcoming us to L&D at midnight on Friday, September 11, 2009

Welcome to the world little one! DCGIII finally made his appearance at 2:44pm after fifteen and a half hours of labor.

DCGIII came out sunny-side up and with a lovely cone shaped head. They promised us it would go away quickly (and it did)!

Getting checked out by Nurse Amy -BEST L&D nurse ever. She was fantastic.

I thought they were joking when they told me I had an 8lb 7oz baby! But obviously the scale doesn't lie. What a big boy!

The Happy Family.

Losing it

My sanity. My body. Control. Take your pick, but not being able to bend over and pick something up this morning without my hips screaming in pain sent me over the edge. Tears. Unconsolable tears. To say I feel overwhelmed is an understatement. The nursery isn't done, the house is a mess, my dog and my husband are sick and apparently I can't bend over anymore.

Today has not started off well.

On a good note, the crib that I have been patiently (I think patiently, the folks at PBK's probably don't think so though) waiting for, for MONTHS to come back in stock is finally sitting in a box in my living room. I wonder how long it will sit there?

Did I mention that my sweet little dog has a double ear infection? Yeah that's fantastic too. Ears that ooze. Lovely.

Tomorrow's another day right? Off to meet a pediatrician tomorrow so at least that is something productive I can check off my list!

34 Week Update

Had yet another doctor's appointment today, you know you spend too much time in a doctor's office when the staff greets you by name. Nothing exciting today, my blood pressure is a little low, so we're watching that and I've gained a pound and a half, which technically means I'm only up .5lbs in the last 4 weeks - I'll take it!

In fun news (well fun for me) when I went to get them mail there was a package waiting for me! Yay. It was Sophie. If you don't know who Sophie is she is a teething toy for newborns in the shape of a giraffe.

How cute is she? She is made from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of the Hevea tree. Apparently its like baby crack and all the rage right now. She was a little hard to get my hands on, but thanks to Amazon.com I've got her! I hope that Little Denis likes her. I think she is adorable.

Dennis, Dennis and I are off to the mountains tomorrow. Our last trip till Little Man is born since I'm not allowed to travel after next week. We're headed up to Grandfather Mountain to celebrate Dennis's birthday on Saturday and so he can get some golfing in with his dad while his mom and I take over the outlets, my ankles will not love me, but my child's closet will! :)

Nursery Progress

Since we've moved I've been looking at the room that is to become our nursery and hating it. It's the same color as every other room in our house, it has no furniture, it has nothing cute, nothing that makes it a nursery (i.e. no crib, no changing table, no seating, etc).

I finally found a painter coming to paint the room so I wouldn't have to do it myself. I'm so excited how the color we chose turned out (Sherwin Williams Lime Granita). I LOVE it. Our changing tables, minus the topper, arrived last Wednesday and it's perfect. Painting done. Check. Changing table/dress, Check. Everything else? Yet to come.

Do y'all find yourselves starting a project and then finding other things you want to do to the space? I've decided that demolition to the closet is in order. Anyone have a sledgehammer I could borrow? Perhaps a really big hammer? I've decided that the closet in the nursery just doesn't work for me (and by me I mean me, not Baby G hehehe). I want to rip out what is in there, which admittedly isn't much and install one of those closet systems that is adjustable. Sort of like this:

I think I can do this myself. I'm pretty sure the hard part is going to be knocking out what is in there currently. Well, that and making sure that the wall mounts are hung straight when I put in the new system! I think I have a trip to Lowe's in my future. I guess I should make a list of tools I'm going to need before I go...

32 Weeks and Starting a Baby Blog?

So I'm a little late to the game on the baby blog, 32 weeks to be exact. Better later than never right? Hopefully I'll do a better job keeping up with this blog than I've done with my cooking blog (who wants to cook when your pregnant, you just want to eat).

At any rate, yesterday was my 32 week appointment with the Dr. I'm still getting use to the new OBGYN practice since leaving a practice I LOVED in NYC. The transition has been pretty painless but I don't recommend changing doctors at 27 weeks, it can be nerve wracking. So far I've seen 3 of the 4 women that practice OB in the office so I'm making my rounds. I just wish I had a little more time to figure out which doctor I'd like to stick with for the long run. :)

Standard visit, pee in a cup, blood pressure, weight (gasp!), measure the belly. Lucky me, my blood pressure was up and my weight was down.... now I managed to lose a pound in the last two weeks I have no idea since I've been living on ice cream and brownies, not to mention I ate Bojangle's right before going to the doctor!

Two weeks and I go back again.
